Here are some of the ways that you can find scholarships that will pay for your accounting degree.
List Your Strengths
First, figure out whether you have any unique talents or strengths that you can use in order to pursue scholarship opportunities. If you served in the military, then this is a unique characteristic that can help you find money for your education. Even if you have had a parent serve in the military, you may be able to obtain a scholarship to pay for your accounting degree.
Corporate Scholarships
You can find hundreds of scholarships that are being offered by corporations. Corporations like Equilar, Inc. provide thousands of dollars to deserving students every year. The Equilar Scholars Program provides thousands of dollars to students who are pursuing an education in finance, accounting, math, statistics or business. A student must have a GPA of at least a 3.5 in order to obtain a scholarship from the Equilar Scholars Program. The T-Mobile Scholarship Program will provide students with at least $4,500 to put toward their education. One of the major benefits of this corporate scholarship is that students are able to participate in an internship program with T-Mobile. Students will be able to participate in an internship program that lasts 10 to 12 weeks.
Minority Scholarships
AICPA Minority Accounting Students Scholarships provide students with incredible scholarship opportunities. This scholarship program is aimed at helping students who are from minority groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in the finance industry. The American Society of Women Accountants provides women throughout the United States with scholarship opportunities. A woman must be attending a two-year or four-year college in order to receive a scholarship from this organization. She must also be majoring in accounting in order to qualify for a scholarship. The Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting also provides scholarships to Hispanic students who are pursuing an accounting degree.
Unique Scholarship Opportunities
If you have always wanted to learn about foreign currencies, then you can pursue a scholarship opportunity with Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals. This program provides 75 students with the opportunity to study in Germany and understand the foreign currency exchange market. The program lasts for two months and covers the entire lodging and food costs of the students. The Davidson Fellows Program is another scholarship program that provides students with substantial scholarships. Students who obtain scholarships through this program are awarded an amount of anywhere between $10,000 to $50,000.
