Arizona State University

WP Carey School of Business

This school is accredited by The North Central Higher Education Commission. It is rated as number sixteen in the Best Business Schools by US News. One of the features of the school is a nine-month master’s program. Specialties in the accounting program are meant to emphasize that accounting offers many career opportunities within the general field. The college describes itself as a “tight knit community” where students and faculty interact and are familiar with one another. It stresses critical thinking skills and team-building concepts while preparing students to take the licensing exams.

Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and MACC

This is a dual degree. Students in the bachelor’s program may take graduate-level classes along with the undergraduate requisites and so satisfy the requirements for both degrees. Ave Maria University

Department of Business

This private Catholic school offers majors and minors in business administration and accounting and majors in finance, global affairs and international business. The school is very small (846 total students) and has a great financial aid package, but it offers relatively few majors. The business department has forged collaborations within the community that afford students opportunities for internships. The top twenty percent of students are eligible to join Sigma Delta which is the business honor society. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Accounting Major

This program requires sixty-four credits in the core curriculum and liberal arts, thirty-two general business credits, and twenty credits in accounting courses. The “CPA Preparation” track includes thirty more credit hours as applicants must have 150 total hours to sit for the licensing exam. The college has collaborations with nationally recognized business managers and the school actively pursues the “right: internship for its students. Because this is a faith-based school, students are required to take classes in theology along with regular liberal arts classes in English, math, sciences and humanities. Albany State University

College of Business

In the nineteen-sixties Albany University’s business education program began the transition toward becoming a business school. In 1974, it became the first school to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The school has recently (2013) opened a new building with more student resources. US News ranks the business school as eighty-sixth of 488 AACSB-accredited schools in the country. The school offers undergraduate degrees, minors, dual degrees, certificates and graduate degrees. Goals of the school are that students will become good communicators, critical thinkers and globally knowledgeable competent professionals.

Bachelor of Science in Accounting

This degree requires sixty hours of core curriculum in math, natural sciences, behavioral sciences and history along with introductory accounting and finance classes. There are also required basic business classes and then classes in the major, for a total of 125 credit hours in the degree. The classes explore financial and managerial accounting, tax accounting and accounting information systems. Accounting majors are also required to perform a business internship toward the end of the program. Because applicants to sit for the CPA exam must have 150 credit hours, students are encouraged to complete the master’s degree to gain the extra credits needed for licensure. Anderson University

Falls School of Business

One of the unique aspects of this business school is the attention to the individual student. There are no graduate assistant teachers. Seventeen of twenty-two faculty members hold doctorates. The school values hands-on learning and requires its students to perform service projects as part of their experiential learning. Falls School of Business has the fifth largest MBA program in Indiana, and is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Business Schools and Programs and by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Accounting Major

The accounting program gives students a broad understanding of accounting and skills to become professionals in the field. The majors provide courses that prepare students to take either the Certified Public Accountant exam or the Certified Management Accountant exam. There are fifty-nine hours in the accounting major, and there are math pre-requisites in calculus and finite math. The coursework includes thirty-three core business classes and seven from electives as well as twenty-five credit hours in accounting, both financial and managerial. In addition, there are two concentration tracks: Forensic Accounting and CPA Preparation. There are programs of study at the school which allow students to complete the one 150-hour exam CPA requirement in eight or nine semesters, with some summer school.

American International College

School of Business, Arts and Sciences

This private, co-ed, four-year college states that its goal is to give students the technical and business skills they need to be professional accountants as well as teach competencies that they can use to successfully complete graduate education. Because accounting is different from other business areas in that accountants must work within a set of generally accepted practices, the courses change as the standards evolve. Albion College

Economics and Management Department

Albion is a four-year private liberal arts college in Albion, Michigan. It was founded in 1835. The student-to-faculty ratio is eleven-to-one so classes are small. The school offers a bachelor of Arts and a bachelor of fine arts (visual arts) degree. It is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Andrews University

School of Business Administration

Andrews University is touted as the “flagship institution of Higher Learning” of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. There is a program that offers student’s the opportunity to study abroad in one of eight countries: Argentina, Brazil, France, England, Italy, Spain, Germany and Singapore. The college is accredited by the Higher learning Commission. The business school is accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. This degree program consists of 124 credits. The college requires foundational classes in liberal arts classes such as math, natural sciences, English composition and communication, behavioral sciences and the humanities, and it also requires physical education and theology classes. Aquinas College

Department of Business Administration

This four-year catholic college boasts a global view. It is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. All freshmen must take the course “Inquiry and Expression” which is a class in written and oral communication. Sophomores take an in depth study in the humanities. Juniors are required to take Religious Dimensions of Human Existence. There is a second language requirement for graduation. The school is set up on a two-semester calendar with a summer session.

Bachelor of Professional Accountancy

This seventy-eight semester hour degree program includes twenty-four credits. At least twenty-four semester hours must be completed on campus. Twelve semester hours must be upper-level classes. Total hours for the degree are at least one hundred and fifty, which satisfies the requirement to sit for the CPA exam. Students must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA and any class passed with less than a “C Minus” grade will not count toward the major. There is a special study capstone class at the completion of the academic classes. The degree program includes field experience and an internship. Academy College

Business Department

This seventy-five-year-old school was first called the Academy of Accountancy and, as such, business classes have always been a staple. It features small classes and offers a flexible schedule of day, evening and online course delivery. Students may also opt to attend full or part-time. One goal of the school is to give all business students a well-rounded education. Every student in the business department takes classes in general business, finance, sales, marketing and accounting. The school is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.

Bachelor of Science in Accounting

This degree includes eight required accounting classes, two required business classes (Business Management and Money Management) and foundational classes in liberal arts classes such as math, natural sciences, humanities and English. Augsburg College

Business Administration Department

This school, founded in 1869 as a Norwegian American seminary, has eight majors. Its goal is to prepare students to become professionals in their areas of study, or to obtain the skills they need to go on to graduate education. Classes are delivered in a hybrid format of evening schedule and online courses. The school maintains close ties with the professional business community to give students outlets for internships and networking. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Council North Central Association.

Business Administration (BUS) Accounting

Students completing the BUS Accounting major will be prepared to obtain entry-level positions as accountants and auditors. There are seven required business core classes and nine accounting requisites. The school says that quantitative reasoning skills, critical thinking, speaking and writing competencies are built into the required courses and are met by completing the major. If students cannot display their proficiency in these skills, advisors will adjust their schedules to acquit-re the proficiencies. The degree program offers the opportunity to study abroad through Augsburg’s International Partners. In addition, the “Mexico: Crossing Borders” semester program focuses on the bi-lateral trade agreement between the United States and Mexico, and gives students first-hand knowledge about NAFTA.
