Founded as Nichols Academy in 1815, Nichols College is a private four year school focusing exclusively on business. It also is one of the oldest schools of all types in Massachusetts. Master of Science in Accounting

D’Amore-McKim School of Business

Northeastern University held its first classes at the Huntington Avenue YMCA after having been created in 1898 as a night school for men named “Evening Institute for Younger Men.” The organization created its D’Amore-McKim School of Business in 1922; it founded its Graduate School of Business Administration 30 years later in 1952. Since then, Northeastern University has grown to become a large school with total student enrollment of almost 25,000. The D’Amore-McKim School of Business itself has more than 3,500 undergraduate students and 800 Master’s and doctoral degree students. Master of Science in Accounting

This program prepares students to sit for the CPA exam. It is open to those with undergraduate accounting majors and allows students to choose career tracks in either Audit or Taxation. Students select a preferred track of study and then choose six credits from required and elective courses to fulfill degree requirements. The degree is offered only in the Boston location. It is a full time program that requires only seven months to complete. It also is AACSB accredited.

Accounting and Business Administration (MS/MBA)

Not everyone who chooses to pursue careers in accounting understood their accounting choice as undergraduates. This program allows those holding undergraduate degrees in liberal arts and non-accounting majors to earn simultaneous MSA and MBA degrees in only 15 months. The program includes a 3-month paid internship at a leading accounting firm and completion qualifies graduates to sit for the CPA exam. The program’s success has been more than only noteworthy: 98 percent of MSA/MBA graduates of the past three years have been offered permanent employment from the organizations at which they completed their internships. Every MSA/MBA graduate in the past three years has been offered positions at national, regional or Big Four accounting firms.

Suffolk University

Sawyer Business School

Founded in 1906, the original purpose of Suffolk University was to provide an evening law school for young men who needed to support themselves and could not attend daytime classes. The university developed an outstanding reputation and subsequently created the Sawyer Business School in 1937. Even at the height of the Great Depression, the university thrived to the point of creating a high quality business school. Today’s Suffolk University is a private institution with more than 10,000 students, more than 3,000 of whom are Sawyer Business School students. MS in Taxation (MST)

Isenberg School of Management

University of Massachusetts – Amherst was founded in 1863 and is a large public institution with an undergraduate population of 23,373. College of Management

The University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston) is Boston’s only public university. Relatively new in terms of founding in one of the country’s oldest states, the state legislature established UMass Boston in 1964. Despite its relatively young age, today UMass Boston is the third-largest institution within the University of Massachusetts system and is a leading public research university. Its total student enrollment is 12,847, nearly 4,000 of whom are graduate students. Charlton College of Business

Located about 60 miles from Boston, the original institution that later would become the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (UMass Dartmouth) was founded in 1895 as the New Bedford Textile School. That school became the Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1969 and then was merged into the UMass system in 1991 as UMass Dartmouth. Ranked among only Regional Universities North a few years ago, U.S. News and World Report now ranks UMass Dartmouth as number 207 in National Universities, a much higher placed category. Manning School of Business

The University of Massachusetts – Lowell (UMass Lowell) is a public institution whose forerunner was founded in 1894. It has nearly 18,000 students and more than 1,150 faculty members. Western New England University

School of Business

Founded in 1919 as the Springfield Division of Northeastern College, today’s Western New England University is a private institution serving the western part of the state. U.S. News and World Report lists Western New England University in its most recent edition of Best Colleges as number 64 among Regional Universities North. Westfield State University

Economics and Business Management Department

Westfield Normal School, the forerunner of Westfield State University, was well ahead of its time when it was founded in 1838 by leading educator Horace Mann. It was Mann’s goal to open public education to everyone regardless of gender, race or socioeconomic standing. He accomplished that goal in that Westfield Normal School was the first coed college in the United States.
