Molloy College

Graduate Business

Like other colleges in New York, Molloy College requires that students take a capstone course that lets them sum up the work they did in graduate school. The college changed the way the capstone worked in 2012 to make it a consulting experience capstone. Students will now work on their own and in small groups to handle the needs to actual clients. They have the chance to meet with those clients, go over their needs and then create a solution that meets their needs. Those studying accounting will work with clients who need financial help, which they can put on their resumes.

Accounting M.B.A.

Though Molloy College does not offer the same master’s in accounting degree programs in New York that other schools do, it does offer an MBA with a concentration in accounting. Students will take five accounting classes and complete the business core to finish 30 credits. The accounting core includes courses like accounting theory, computer auditing, accounting research, financial statement analysis and advanced topics in business. The college also offers a finance concentration for those who want to learn more about investments and investment strategies. College of Business Administration

Niagara University offers one of the most diverse Master of Business Administration programs in the entire state. Students can customize the classes they take as well as when they take their courses based on their needs and their schedules. Though some students will enroll in a more traditional MBA program, others will want to take classes on the weekends and other classes that meet on weekday nights. The university offers different concentration options for students and actually offers two different accounting options for students. These programs are suitable for those with an accounting undergraduate degree and those with a bachelor’s degree in another field.

MBA in Professional Accountancy

The MBA in Professional Accountancy that Niagara University offers is one of the top master’s in accounting degree programs in New York for students with little to no accounting experience. It features 69 credits of work. Students who have a business degree or a business background can graduate after taking fewer classes because the university will waive some required courses based on their knowledge and experience. Those with no business or accounting experience will need to take 18 credits of prerequisites that include financial and management accounting, analysis of quantitative data, communications for executives and a class on law and business ethics.

MBA in Accounting

Niagara University also designed an MBA in Accounting program for those who want to take the CPA exam. It features only 51 credits of work, which allows students to take that exam and earn an MBA degree. The university will look at a student’s background to determine if he or she needs to take any prerequisites before beginning the MBA program. To get an MBA, students must take accounting concentration courses and electives and complete the business core. Students can take a special topics class to study a unique topic, do a consulting internship or sign up for a co-op.
