St. John Fisher College
School of Business
Located in a suburb of Rochester, St. John Fisher College is private liberal arts school with approximately 3,700 students attending. The school’s motto is “Teach me goodness, discipline, and knowledge.” The school is named after a bishop in England who was named John Fisher. A martyr in the Catholic Church, Fisher was a resident of Kent, England in the 1400s and 1500s. The school was originally founded as a college for men, but the school became an independent entity and coeducational in the early 1970s. There are 23 varsity teams playing at the school under the official colors of gold and cardinal red.
Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting
Accounting is one of four different areas of concentration that students may choose when they enter this masters in accounting degree program in New York. The program’s director encourages students to customize the program to suit their needs, and students may complete their MBA in a single year as an undergraduate business major by taking advantage of the combination bachelor’s degree and MBA program. Courses are available on weeknights, as well as on some Saturday mornings. Students must complete several core and foundation courses, as well as any courses required by their accounting concentration. The program’s requirement is 48 graduate-level credit hours.

Siena College
School of Business
Located in Loudonville, New York, Siena College is a private liberal arts college that was named after a 15th-century Italian friar. The school is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church and operates in the Franciscan tradition of its founders, the Order of Friars Minor. The college campus sits on 174 acres and provides classes to more than 3,200 undergraduates. There are only a handful of graduate students attending Siena College. The school’s official colors are gold and green, and students play in NCAA Division I – MAAC games as The Saints. The school recently built a new bookstore, lounge, and rugby field.
Master of Science in Accounting
The graduate program in accounting in New York at Siena College is designed to take one year to complete and is a full-time commitment for students interested in advancing their accounting careers. Topics included in the curriculum include taxation and auditing, as well as lessons on effective presentation and communication skills for businesspeople. Anyone who wishes to sit for the New York State CPA exam will benefit from the program’s hours, which go toward the testing requirement. St. Bonaventure University
School of Business
St. Bonaventure University was founded in 1858 by a financier in Utica named Nicholas Devereux. Approximately 2,400 students attend the Allegany-based university on campus, as well as via online programs. The school almost entered bankruptcy in the 1990s, but the president of the university made some changes that ensured the school did not have to close its doors. The campus covers around 500 acres in Allegany, and it even has its own United States Post Office. Several improvements have been made to the campus in the past two decades starting with a $6 million recreation center, a renovated dining hall, and two new academic facilities for business and science.
BBA & MBA in Professional Accountancy Program
Students who have not yet earned an undergraduate degree may wish to consider the BBA and MBA program in accounting at St. Bonaventure University. Like other master’s in accounting degree programs in New York that combine degrees, students may complete the program in five years if they attend school full-time. Not only does this program reward the student with two degrees, but the 150 hours required helps a student qualify to take the CPA exam if they wish. The school boasts that 98% of students earn a job offer before they even graduate, and students benefit from a program that is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).
Online MBA in Accounting
Business professionals have the opportunity to earn an online MBA degree in Accounting from a New York school even if they’re not close to the campus. Just like its on-campus counterpart, the Online MBA in Accounting is AACSB Accredited. Some of the foundational courses a student will take include Legal Environment of Business, Advanced Cost Accounting, Contemporary Accounting Theory, and Intermediate Financial Reporting. Students will also undertake a capstone project before graduating. The school’s research suggests that graduates who become accountants or auditors may make a yearly salary of $67,190 a year and that those who become business analysts or consultants may earn $80,000 as an average annual salary.

St Francis College

St. Francis College is a relatively small school with around 2,700 students attending the Brooklyn Heights campus. The campus is located in an urban area and is primarily an undergraduate college with small graduate programs in project management, accounting, and psychology. Students with an interest in sports may play in NCAA Division I games as the Terriers. The school’s official colors are red and blue. Students enjoy a nice student-to-faculty ratio of 17:1, with more than 55% of classes featuring less than 21 students. The school has gained a reputation for its diversity and was ranked in a list of diverse colleges by “The New York Times.”
BS/MS (5-Year Program)
This five-year bachelors and masters degree program in New York will prepare a student to sit for the CPA exam, as well as quality to work for a number of local, regional, and state accounting firms. Graduates often apply for work with the large accounting firms like Ernst & Young (EY), PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and Deloitte. The Peter J. Tobin College of Business
Established in 1870, St. John’s University is a Roman Catholic university in New York City that was founded by the Congregation of the Mission. The school was originally located in Bedford-Stuyvesant but was relocated in the 1950s to its current location. The university has a healthy student body population of more than 21,000 and an endowment of more than $640 million. The school’s main campus sits on 105 acres in Queens. Students play on sports teams in the NCAA Division I Big East conference as the Red Storm. The school’s official colors are red, white, and blue.
Accounting, Master of Science

SUNY New Paltz was once known as New Paltz Classical School when it was founded in the late 1820s. Stony Brook University is part of the State University of New York system and has been in operation since 1957. The school is located in Stony Brook, New York and used to be called the State University College on Long Island. The large university has more than 25,000 students attending its West Campus, East Campus, and Southampton Campus. The main campus is located in a suburban area and covers 1,364 acres. The State University of New York at Albany, often referred to as SUNY Albany, was established in 1844 as a State Normal School. It would transform over the years into many iterations ad finally become part of the SUNY system in 1961. There are three campuses at which students can take their classes, including the Uptown Campus, Downtown Campus, and the Health Sciences Campus in nearby Rensselaer. The university has around 19,000 students attending and offers students excellent opportunities for study abroad programs and internships in the state’s capital city. Accounting (Two Year) Master of Science Degree
Students must possess an undergraduate degree that includes at least three courses in the areas of financial accounting, economics, statistics, and computer science. Located near Rochester, the college was established in 1867 and has been labeled a “best value” by publications like Kiplinger. Established in 1871 as the Wadsworth Normal and Training School, SUNY Geneseo would eventually become part of the state system in the late 1940s. The school has around 5,600 undergraduates and a small population of about 100 graduate students. The small town campus is rural and covers around 220 acres. The sports teams at the school are the Knights, and the official colors of the school are blue and white. There are 48 undergraduate majors available at the campus, as well as five graduate programs. SUNY Oswego was founded in 1861 and is a public college in the town of Oswego, which is a small city on the shore of Lake Ontario. There are two campuses with the older, historic campus in Oswego and the newer campus in Syracuse. Syracuse University is a private school in Syracuse and was once a Genesee Wesleyan Seminary when it was founded in 1870 by the Methodist Episcopal Church. Business Economics and Finance
Utica College is a private university that was officially founded in 1946, but it existed in a small form before that as a satellite campus of Syracuse University. Utica College became an independent entity from Syracuse University in 1995. The school has just over 3,000 students in bachelor’s degree programs and around 1,300 students in graduate-level programs. The official colors of the college are navy and orange, and the nickname of the school’s sports teams are the Pioneers. Wagner College was founded as a Lutheran seminary in Rochester in 1883 and would transform over its first forty years from a German-style, six-year religious curriculum to a traditional American college style of education. Yeshiva University is affiliated with the Modern Orthodox Jewish faith and is a private research university in New York City. There are four campuses throughout the city where students can take classes. The curriculum is designed under the philosophy of combining secular knowledge and study of the Torah, which is the Jewish holy book.
