Master of Science in Accounting
Students who enroll in the Master of Science in Accounting degree at the University of Wyoming must have completed introductory-level accounting courses prior to beginning the graduate degree. Those who do not have any experience or education in accounting are required to take preliminary courses first. As one of several accredited master’s in accounting degree programs in Wyoming, students must take between 15 and 24 credit hours of accounting work at the 4000 and 5000 levels. Students round out their degree with elective courses to finish a total of 30 credit hours of coursework, which most complete within two years. Required courses cover topics such as fraud examination, auditing, financial accounting, managerial accounting, and taxation. Though UW requires students to take one seminar, the school recommends that all students take seminars on topics such as contemporary issues and accounting information systems since each seminar dives deeper into each one of these areas.
