At Collins Center, the College of Business provides a B.B.A. in Accounting with a 120-credit, four-year plan headed by Dr. Sergiy Saydometov for Dallas Baptist University Patriots to develop financial reporting skills in courses like Internal Auditing, Big Four internships, and Accounting Society events. Chaired by Dr. Joseph Park, the B.B.A. in Finance plots a 120-credit, ACBSP-accredited path where undergrads could pledge Phi Beta Delta, intern with BOK Financial, pursue the Accelerated M.B.A., and semester in Brisbane. The Bachelor of Business Studies (B.B.S.) makes eight specializations, including Accounting and Finance, available online for transfers with 42+ credits.
Online on Blackboard, the M.B.A. in Accounting follows a 36-credit, non-thesis track outlined by Dr. Sandra Reid with asynchronous courses like Tax Planning and Fraud Investigation to train global problem-solvers for a 100 percent Uniform CPA exam pass rate. Directed by Dr. Jeffrey Johnson, the M.B.A. in Finance upholds Jeremiah 29:11 by providing a 36-credit, Christ-centered online curriculum of flexible 16-week courses from Capital Markets to International Investments that satisfy CFA Institute certification requirements. Since May 2017, the Graduate School has offered a 32-credit Executive M.B.A. where managers with at least five years of experience complete four hybrid semesters for $50,000 total. There’s also a 12-credit Advanced Certificate in Business Innovation Strategy.
About Dallas Baptist University
Dallas Baptist University originated in 1891 when Wise County citizens donated land plus $15,000 to build the Northwest Texas Baptist College on Decatur’s Main Street. First dedicated on September 6, 1893, it struggled financially until its purchase by the Baptist General Convention in 1897. The next year, Decatur Baptist College was opened as Texas’ first two-year junior institution. Until 1965, it provided two-year associate degrees for transfer to Baylor University. That October, it was renamed Dallas Baptist College and relocated to its current Oak Cliff campus. In 1968, the first Bachelor of Arts and Science degrees were formed. On January 1, 1985, the Dallas Baptist University name was formally adopted as the Graduate School was launched. By 2006, DBU had created the University Honors Program. In 2013, DBU erected the Jeannette and Cletys Sadler Global Missions Center. In 2019, Dallas Baptist joined the NCAA Division II Lone Star Conference.

Dallas Baptist University Accreditation Details
On December 9, 2018, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Board of Trustees voted to reaffirm the Level V accreditation at Dallas Baptist University through the next 2027-28 evaluation under President Adam C. Wright, Ph.D. Located 800 miles east via Interstate 20 in Decatur, Georgia, this esteemed 11-state Southeast Region organization is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to regionally accredit DBU’s 85 baccalaureate, 34 graduate, and 73 dual degrees. Further, the College of Business was approved by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) on May 12, 2016.
Dallas Baptist University Application Requirements
Enrollment at Dallas Baptist University is classified as “moderately difficult” by Peterson’s though 2,428 of the 2,757 Fall 2018 applicants were triumphant for 88 percent acceptance. First-year Patriots pursuing a B.B.A. in Accounting or Finance must satisfactorily complete high school or the GED. Four years of English and three years each of math and science are recommended. Cumulative GPAs of 2.5 and higher are mandated. Freshmen need a minimum 21 ACT, 71 CLT, or 1100 SAT score. The 2018 Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll member counts up to 90 previous credits. Regionally accredited courses graded C or better are transferred. International learners prove English ability with at least a 71 TOEFL iBT, 48 PTE, 168 CAE, or 6.0 IELTS score. The Master of Business Administration requires a four-year bachelor’s degree. Executive M.B.A. cohorts have 5+ years of substantive field experience. Overall GPAs above 3.0 in the last 60 undergrad credits are needed. GMAT scores of 425 or greater are also expected.
Dallas Baptist University has convenient rolling admissions throughout the year. Current priority dates are November 1st, January 1st, and March 1st. The preferential financial aid date is March 15th. Housing applicants should file before April 15th or June 1st.
