Undergraduate students who are pursuing a B.A. in Accounting will be immersed in a curriculum that is centered around numbers and mathematics. The program is equipped to prepare all participants with the necessary skills to become competent and skilled in accounting. Graduate students can pursue an M.S. in Accountancy via a virtual classroom. The online program lasts for 12 months or less. During this time, students are engaging in courses such as Accounting Theory, Advanced Management Accounting, Advanced Accounting Information Systems, and Advanced Auditing. Each of these required courses will prepare students for careers in accounting such as tax accounting, forensic accounting, and internal auditing. During the course of the semesters, students gain knowledge and understanding of basic accounting theories, financial reporting, and documentation processes. Each course is preparation for the CPA examination.
The master’s program is entirely online, and while there aren’t any physical classrooms to visit for this program, students still receive the same quality of education as those who are participating in courses on-campus. The professors who teach the courses are attentive and extremely intelligent. They are skilled in their professions and are able to deliver lessons in such a way that makes it easy for students to follow along and achieve their academic goals. Many of the faculty members have personal experiences in accounting as well as management. Graduate students must complete 15 credit hours of foundationally required core classes prior to moving on to preferred class selections. The program is flexible and can work with any schedules that might require other accommodations. When the program is complete, students will have the necessary skills to become leaders in their fields of controllership, auditing and much more.
About Emporia State University
Founded in 1863, ESU started out as the Kansas State Normal School. Although the Kansas legislature approved the plans for the school in 1863, the school didn’t hold courses until 1865. When the doors finally did open, the institution was comprised of 18 students and just one faculty member. The first class graduated in 1867. For the next 19 years, Kansas State Normal School faces a significant amount of backlash and setbacks in its pursuit to expand. Many factors such as lack of resources and depression put a halt on the success of the institution. Finally, a break in the struggle saw 400 students enrolled. Each of these students represented more than 40 Kansas counties and nine international countries.
By 1889, the bad luck streak was over and Kansans State Normal School became the largest institution in the state as well as the biggest normal facility in the nation. Kansas Normal received its accreditation credentials in 1898 and that same year, the facility welcomed the first African-American students. As the school continued to break ground, the name continued to change from school to college, and finally, to university. The school was known as Kansas State Teacher’s College in 1923. A few decades later, it changed its name to Emporia Kansas State College in 1974. Just three years later, the institution officially became known as Emporia State University.

Emporia State University Application Requirements
First-year students should complete an online application form along with a $30 application fee. Prospective students should provide satisfactory SAT or ACT scores, official high school transcripts, a financial aid application, and a class ranking. Undergraduates w should have completed at least four units of English, three units of sciences, three units of mathematics and three units of social science. Students can also submit GED scores in lieu of these requirements.
Graduate students seeking admissions should provide proof of an acquired baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited facility. Prospective students should submit a minimum GPA of 2.5, official transcripts, satisfactory GMAT scores, supplemental departmental documents such as a resume, a personal statement, and letters of recommendation. For those who are first-time graduate applicants, the application fee will be $50. Graduates who are returning, the application fee will be $20.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate students who are residents of the state will pay a tuition of $8,641 per semester. Those who are residents of surrounding Midwestern states will pay a tuition of $9,928. Undergraduates who are non-residents of the state will pay $15,598.
Graduate students who are residents of the state will pay $266.41 per credit hour. Those who are non-residents of the state will pay $828.66 per credit hour. Students who are pursuing an M.S. in Accountancy through the online program, tuition will be $10,500.
