Donald Grantham founded Grantham University as the Grantham Radio License School in 1951 with the intention to assist fellow veterans in enhancing their lives through postsecondary education. Soon after its founding, the school changed its name to Grantham School of Electronics. Throughout the 1950s through 1970s, the school opened various campuses around the country. In 1961, the school gained accreditation. In 1968, the name changed to Grantham College of Engineering. Shortly after, the school consolidated its activities to one campus in California that offered only distance learning programs. It relocated to Louisiana in 1990. In 2002, the school finally became Grantham University and it launched its business school. From 2002 to 2005, the university expanded its online degree programs. In 2005, Grantham relocated to Kansas. Today, Grantham University is home to more than 17,000 students and it is still driven by the vision and philosophy on quality education. Online Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
Grantham University offers an online Bachelor of Science in Accounting that prepares students prepare for careers in accounting, auditing, or related areas. The program provides instruction on the theories, principles, practices, and abilities for students to progress their careers. Students learn how to analyze financial statements, prepare taxes, and complete other tasks for a variety of entities. The program requires the completion of 121 credit hours. The core courses include principles of accounting, financial accounting, cost accounting, corporate taxation, auditing and assurance, intermediate accounting, cost accounting, accounting information systems, forensic accounting, governmental and non-profit accounting, managerial accounting, and business law. The program also requires the completion of a capstone course that features a comprehensive auditing project. The program can typically be completed in 38 months and it is offered entirely online. Graduates of the program evaluate accounting issues in the foundational sectors of business and apply accounting strategies and tools to solve those problems. They create and evaluate accounting data for business decision making and explain ethical obligations. Graduates also describe decision making abilities that are relevant to professional, ethical, and social responsibilities.
