The H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship offers various finance and accounting programs, including a major and minor in finance, master’s in finance, major, minor, and dual admission in accounting and master’s in accounting.
The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance major provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to begin or advance their careers in finance. Students learn about investments, portfolio theory, foreign currencies, financial management, forecasting, and other concepts. A total of 120 credit hours are needed to complete the degree. The finance major courses include Intermediate Macroeconomics, Monetary Theory and Policy, Financial Management, Principles of Investments, Securities Analysis, Banking and Financial Institutions, Advanced Financial Management, and International Finance. The minor in finance provides students with the needed knowledge and abilities to work in financial institutions. A total of 18 credit hours are needed for completion. The required courses include Corporation Finance, Monetary Theory and Policy, Financial Management, Principles of Investments, Securities Analysis, Banking and Financial Institutions, Advanced Financial Management, and International Finance. The Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance provides students with a solid foundation in advanced business administration paired with courses that focus on financial topics. Students gain a wide understanding of corporate finance, securities analysis, portfolio management, and financial institutions and markets. A total of 40 to 49 credits are needed to complete the program. The finance courses include Real World Finance for Managers, Banking, Investments, Financial Engineering, and Advanced Corporate Finance.
The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting major prepares students to take on the challenges of a constantly changing business world. Students gain a strong foundation in vital business areas, including administration and operations. A total of 120 credit hours are needed to complete the degree program. The accounting core courses include Intermediate Accounting, Cost Management, Federal Taxation, Auditing, Business Law for Accountants, Advanced Accounting, and Accounting Information Systems. After completion of the program, students are prepared to take the Certified Public Accountant examination. The minor in accounting is intended to improve students’ knowledge of practical accounting. The program requires 15 credit hours. The required courses include Foundations of Accounting I, Foundations of Accounting II, Cost Management, Federal Taxation, and Intermediate Accounting. The dual admission program enables qualified students to complete a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting in five and a half years. Students are able to complete the program in 18 months. The Master of Accounting program prepares students to enter or advance their careers in accounting. Students have the ability to choose from three concentrations: Public Accounting, Taxation, and Management Accounting. A total of 33 to 51 credit hours are needed to complete the program depending on the undergraduate degree. The core accounting courses include Introductory Accounting, Cost Accounting, Intermediate Accounting I, Intermediate Accounting II, Auditing, Accounting Information and Control Systems, Advanced Accounting, Accounting Theory, Accounting Analytics, Financial Statement Analysis, and Survey of Taxation.
