TAMU-Commerce is divided into five colleges which are the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, the College of Business, the College of Education and Human Resources, the College of Humanities, Social Sciences and Arts, and the College of Science and Engineering. For students interested in the College of Business there are a total of five departments to choose from. At the undergraduate level students can receive their B.A. in Accounting or their B.A in Economics and Finance. Other options include a B.A. in Marketing and Business Analytics or a B.A. in Management. The accounting department not only prepares students for their careers but they are also prepared and trained to continue their education by participating in a graduate program. Some of the courses that undergraduate students will take include certified public accountant preparation (CPA) as well as certified management accountant (CMA) preparation. A number of certification exams are necessary for particular accountant positions, and students are thoroughly primed within their program of choice. The economics and finance department has a variety of major areas that are covered throughout the curriculum. This program is also committed to getting students adjusted to the demands of a career in the business environment. Students will take courses related to forensic economics, competitive and investment strategy, applied econometrics, and of course finance.
Graduate students can pursue their master’s as well as a minor. At this level, students can obtain an M.S. in Accounting. Students will take courses such as Accounting for Managers, Financial Accounting, Auditing, Business Law for Accountants, Individual Income Tax, and Practicum in Forensics.

Texas A&M University-Commerce has been operating since 1889. Ever since it first opened its doors it has always been committed to success for faculty members of the student body alike. Prior to receiving its current name TAMU-Commerce was known as East Texas Normal College in Cooper, Texas. In 1894 the college was engulfed by flames and burned to the ground. The institution was relocated; in 1923 it was named East Texas State Teachers College. The facility saw its first doctoral program in 1962 and later became East Texas State University in 1965. TAMU-Commerce officially became Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1996 when it was inaugurated as an official member of the Texas A&M System.

Texas A&M University received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. It has been accredited by this commission since 1925. TAMU-Commerce has programs that have received individual accreditation credentials. The College of Business received accreditation from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
Texas A&M University-Commerce Application Requirements
First-year undergraduate students seeking admissions should have completed a satisfactory high school curriculum with courses taken in English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and another language other than English. To be automatically accepted into Texas A&M University-Commerce, students should be ranked in the top 30th percentile of their high school graduating class or have an SAT or ACT score of 1060 or 21+. Prospective students should submit an application, official high school transcripts, an application for financial aid, and an application for scholarships. Updated health forms proving vaccinations should also be prepared. To complete your application be sure to submit the $50 fee. First-year graduate students seeking admissions should also submit a $50 application fee as well as GMAT/GRE scores with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. A letter of recommendation and official transcripts are also required for consideration.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate students who are residents of the State of Texas can expect base tuition of $596.80 per credit hour. Undergraduate students who are non-residents of the state can expect base tuition of $1,018.80 per credit hour. In total, a Texas resident can expect to pay $21,651 per year, and a non-resident of the state can expect to pay $34,101 per year. This pricing includes tuition and fees, housing and meals, books and supplies, and other expenses. Students can opt to customize and change their meal plans as well as their housing location but prices will fluctuate based on that decision. Graduate students who are residents of the state of Texas can expect base tuition of $634.44 per credit hour. Graduates who are non-residents of the state can expect base tuition of $1,056.44 per credit hour. Students can also choose to be part of the Guaranteed Tuition Plan cohort where a certain rate is paid based on residency.
Students can receive financial aid in the form of federal grants, state grants, teach grants for eligible majors, loans that are federal, state and private, and Parent Plus Loans. Undergraduate students can receive scholarships from the university. About71% of students receive aid in the form of a grant or a scholarship with average awards of $7,019.
